My research focuses on urban sensing, human mobility, environmental exposure, and wearable computing.

About Me

I am currently a Research Assistant at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). My research focuses on urban sensing, human mobility, environmental exposure, and wearable computing.

I am particularly interested in how low-cost mobile and wearable devices can be used to reconstruct people’s real-world activity contexts, travel behavior, surrounding microenvironments, and environmental exposure. My work combines wearable sensors, GPS trajectories, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth signals, street-view imagery, and machine learning.Rather than treating location coordinates as a complete description of human activity, I aim to develop evidence-based sensing systems that answer more detailed questions:

  1. How can low-cost sensors and street-view imagery be used to more accurately capture the urban environments that people actually experience?
    For example, by measuring temperature, air pollution, and other microenvironmental variations across streets, travel routes, and everyday activity spaces.
  2. How can mobile devices, wearable sensors, and crowdsourced data be used to understand the dynamic interactions between people and cities?
    This involves not only identifying where people are, but also understanding how they move, engage with different urban spaces, and respond to the environments around them.
  3. How can uncertainty in the analysis of human–urban interactions be quantified and validated?
    This includes assessing the reliability of environmental measurements, the accuracy of activity and travel-mode inference, and whether personal exposure estimates truly reflect people’s interactions with urban environments.
